How to Carve a Pumpkin: Fun Writing Activities!
Easily pair pumpkins and procedural writing with these fun ideas! Digital procedures for how to carve a pumpkin, roasting pumpkin seeds, and making pumpkin pie!
Are you carving pumpkins or roasting seeds with your students?
Why not incorporate some digital literacy skills!
I love teaching procedure writing, do you? Most students enjoy it too, so it’s important to engage them with topics that interest them. Let’s take pumpkin procedure writing into digital form!
After I heard that educators were enjoying my original How to Make a Snowman template, I created more topics to use throughout the year.
Introducing Pumpkin Procedural Writing for Google SLIDE Slides™!
The templates work perfectly for both whole-class mini-lessons, and independent work. They also include features that allow teachers to differentiate for various ages and writing levels.
HOW DO THE SLIDESHOWS WORK?
Pre-made Slides - These slides include all the steps to write a basic pumpkin procedure. Students can simply start to write in the text boxes provided.
Word Bank - One slide in each slideshow is dedicated to vocabulary. Students can access this slide to check out how to spell some common words for the topic. Pictures are included to make it easier to identify the words.
Moveable Images - Maybe your students are ready to create their own slides with the steps for the procedure?! They can duplicate the blank slide, and create as many slides as they need. After this they can cut-and-paste the moveable clipart included in the slideshow! They will feel so much ownership when they create their very own “how to” procedure!
HELPFUL TIPS
Decide if you want your students to use pre-made slides or create their own
Make a copy of the slideshow in your Google Drive (but you can always “re-download” from TPT if needed)
Customize your copied slideshow for your students by duplicating or deleting slides as needed
