4 Ideas For Lunar New Year in Your Classroom
Lunar New Year is an important (and fun!) celebration to share with your students! If you’re looking for a FREEBIE, book ideas, lessons and printable worksheets….you’ve come to the right place!
Lunar New Year marks the end of the year, and the first new moon of the lunisolar calendar. It has become a more inclusive term for “Chinese New Year” because it is celebrated not only in China, but also celebrated in countries such as South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam and more.
It is also known as Spring Festival. So although there are many names, it is the same exciting celebration!

Learn about Lunar New Year with an engaging slideshow for Google Slides! This slideshow includes easy-to-follow informational slides and comprehension slides to check for understanding. This resource is great for both in-class and virtual learning.
ALSO included are 4 printable activities (word search, cut-and-paste, matching etc.) to use as follow-up activities after the slideshow. These differentiated options will suit a variety of ages and skill sets.
LUNAR NEW YEAR CODING CARDS for CODING ROBOT
If you have a Bee-Bot, Coding Mouse, or another coding robot, these cards will be great for you! Simply place or tape them under a clear coding mat, and start coding! I usually print 2 sets of the cards, and students code the robot from one picture to the matching picture.
All of the pictures match the Lunar New Year Slideshow, so they will be familiar to students if you shared this presentation. If you want to learn more about Bee-Bots and coding mats, check out The Buzz About Bee-Bots.
